Talking Convincingly to the Media
In this multi-media world there is a lot of air-time to fill. Whether you are an equities analyst, a surgeon, a CEO or a scientist, there is every chance that a broadcaster might consider you to be exactly the expert they need to clarify, defend, or promote your organisations interests. Are you ready for that challenge?
Aims
At Canning we believe that if you take a positive approach to the media, seeing the publicity as an opportunity to enhance your, or your organisation's, position, then there is no reason why your appearance should not be a success. We help you to put together a positive message, to deal with awkward questions, and to make sure that you look good, sound right, and gain the maximum positive impact.
Content
The content of these tailored courses is agreed with the client, and fine-tuned with the participants. However, on a typical workshop you could expect to:
-
Construct persuasive, attractive messages
-
Tailor that message to the viewing or listening audience
-
Deliver complex ideas in a simple way
-
Bring the subject to life by painting verbal pictures
-
Prepare properly for the interview
-
Look good on TV
-
Sound good on the radio
-
Adjust your language and behaviour for different cultures
-
Be comfortable with the jargon of the media industry
Methods
Our training is active and tailored to individual needs. You will normally be in a group of not more than six people, and you can expect to practice constantly throughout the course, on camera and on tape. You will get feedback from an expert trainer with experience as a broadcaster, spokesperson or PR professional. Courses normally last between one or two days, though this can be a very useful 'add-on' to one of our presentations courses.
